The 2025 Partner Event in Belgium gave us the first real official glimpse into the Odoo 19 roadmap, and while the full release won’t be here until September’s Odoo Experience, we’ve had a chance to go through the official slideshow and pick out the highlights we feel are worth knowing about.
If you’d rather watch than read, we’ve also shared a video version of this overview - but if you prefer your insights in blog format, read on!
AI Takes the Spotlight
Let’s start with the big headline: artificial intelligence. Odoo 19 is getting native AI integration - and not just as a gimmick. These new features aim to make your day-to-day tasks more efficient and more intuitive.
For instance, you can now define computed fields using AI prompts, helping to automate repetitive tasks with just a few words. Need to assign incoming helpdesk tickets or CRM leads? AI-powered server actions can handle that too, intelligently routing tasks to the right person at the right time.
Fabien Pinckaers, Odoo’s founder, has demonstrated how AI can summarise customer activity - generating key product insights directly within the customer record. It’s early days, but these tools look like they could genuinely reduce admin overhead and help teams respond faster and smarter.
Odoo is also introducing AI "Agents". You can train them on your internal documentation, turning them into knowledgeable assistants that can help triage live chat requests or offer real-time support to customers. Think of it as a helpful colleague that’s always online.
We’re watching this closely - especially to see whether these features remain free or follow the In-App Purchase model we’ve seen in other AI-related tools from Odoo. No word yet, so we’ll keep you posted.
We're also closely watching an OCA discussion on LLMs.
Smarter Websites and eCommerce Tools
Odoo’s website builder gets an annual refresh, and version 19 brings even more design freedom. Expect a broader selection of drag-and-drop snippets and more flexibility when designing product pages and shop layouts.
They’ve also made it easier to customise your checkout flow and various portal pages - including login and password reset screens - helping you deliver a more consistent and polished customer experience.
On the SEO side, Odoo’s made some solid improvements. A revamped wizard now flags issues like missing image tags or broken links, and URL management has been made more SEO-friendly. For anyone managing an online shop, this should make staying search-visible that little bit easier.
Odoo has also added out-of-the-box integration with Gelato (for on-demand printing) and improved the product feed integration with Google Merchant Center. These updates make it simpler to get your products noticed - and purchased.
A New Way to Send SMS
Twilio is being introduced as a native alternative to Odoo’s built-in SMS service. If you’ve ever run into the limitations or quirks of Odoo’s own messaging system, this will be welcome news. We already have our own open source module if you want to use Twilio for older versions. It's not currently available for 17 or 18 but if you want it, please do reach out.
Twilio gives you more control and reliability, especially when sending promotional messages or automated reminders. You’ll still need to cover Twilio’s usage costs, but we’ve found their service to be both flexible and dependable - particularly useful if you’re working at scale.
And yes, WhatsApp features are still around (introduced in versions 17 and 18), with some new calendar integrations that will fully land in 19.
Calendar, Gantt, and Mobile: Framework Refreshes
Odoo 19 brings several behind-the-scenes improvements to the core framework. The calendar now supports multi-editing and better interaction options, while the Gantt view includes a smart zoom feature, tooltips for events, and the ability to fold away unused hours - a small but meaningful usability win.
Mobile users will notice smoother interactions too. Dropdown menus are replaced by cleaner bottom cards, and there’s now support for pull-to-refresh. Important actions are easier to spot, and overall, the mobile experience feels more thought through.
Bank reconciliation gets a facelift too - and for the first time, there’s a mobile-optimised view. It’s hard to judge how usable it will be until we try it for ourselves, but the simplified layout could be a good move… or might end up hiding key info. We’ll report back once we’ve tested it in the wild.
HR, Payroll, and a New ESG App
HR sees minor interface improvements to the Time-Off app and some localisation updates - though still no sign of a UK-specific payroll module. So for now, P60s and P45s remain a task for third-party tools or custom builds. Fingers crossed for next year.
One new addition is the ESG app (Environmental, Social, Governance). This is designed to help companies track their carbon footprint, energy use, and other sustainability metrics. For larger businesses - especially those affected by EU reporting rules - this could become quite valuable. For others, it might be one to watch for the future.
What’s Next?
There’s a lot more in the full roadmap, but we’ve picked out the features we think will matter most to our clients and community. If you're curious, we’ve included a link to the full presentation at the end of this post - well worth a look.
As always, we’re here to help you make the most of Odoo. Whether you’re excited about the AI features or just happy about the cleaner mobile UI, we’ll be keeping a close eye on Odoo 19 and sharing updates as the release gets closer.
Let us know what you’re most looking forward to - or what you’re not so sure about! And if you’d like help planning your upgrade or exploring some of the new features in more detail, just give us a shout.
